Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Newton's second law of motion states that the net force acting on a body is equal to the rate of change in its momentum. This change in momentum takes place in the same direction as the net force.
