Seminal vesicle:

  1. The seminal vesicles are the accessory glands which do not involve directly in the process of reproduction by producing the sperm cells.
  2. They are a pair of lobulated muscular glands located in a region between the urinary bladder and the rectum.
  3. They form a structure called the ejaculatory duct by joining with vas deferens

Function:

  1. The secretions of the seminal vesicles include a white fluid that is alkaline in nature contributing to the major part of the semen.
  2. The secretion of the seminal vesicles is a combination of fructose, mucus and proteins which activates the sperms by providing nourishment.
  3. The alkaline secretion neutralizes the acidic environment prevalent in the urethra of both genders.
