Cerebrum:

  2. It is divided into two hemispheres namely the left and the right cerebral hemispheres connected through the corpus callosum.
  3. It is covered by a cortex which is rich in gray matter containing lots of convolutions and grooves called gyri and sulci.

Functions:

  1. The gyri and sulci of the cerebral cortex is responsible for the intelligence, memory, planning, reasoning out etc.
  2. It also controls voluntary actions such as hearing, smell taste etc.

Hence, the cerebral cortex of the cerebrum is involved in intelligence, memory, planning, reasoning out etc. and also controls voluntary actions (hearing, smell, taste etc).
