Cerebrospinal fluid:

  1. It is a colorless fluid that is present in the brain and spinal cord that resembles plasma.
  2. It is majorly made up of water and also contains glucose, lipids, electrolytes, proteins etc.
  3. It is present in the cerebrospinal canal of the spinal cord and the ventricles of the brain.

Function:

  1. It provides nourishment to the central nervous system.
  2. It is a shock absorber that protects the central nervous system from mechanical injury.
  3. It also removes waste metabolites from the central nervous system.

Hence, the cerebrospinal fluid provides nourishment, removes wastes, and acts as a shock absorber for the central nervous system.
