State the functions of testes.

Testes:

  1. It is a male reproductive organ that is located in the scrotum outside the abdominal cavity.
  2. Each testes contains 15-20 testicular lobules.
  3. Each testicular lobule contains 2-3 seminiferous tubules.
  4. Connective tissue present around the seminiferous tubules is called Leydig Cell which produces male hormones.

Functions of testes:

  1. Testes produce and store sperm throughout the reproductive life.
  2. Testes produce male sex hormones called testosterone and androgen.
  3. Testosterone produced by testes is responsible for secondary sexual characteristics in males.
