The law of floatation states that “When a body is floating in a fluid, then the weight of the whole body acting vertically downwards at its center of gravity is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the immersed part of the body acting vertically upwards at its center of buoyancy”.
Weight of the whole body is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the immersed part of the body or u[thrust.
The basic principle of the law of floatation is used in the design of ships, submarines, boats, and so on.
