Question

State the law on which classification of elements was based by arranging elements into groups of three called 'triads'

Open in App
Solution

  • The law of triads states that the arithmetic mean of the atomic masses of the first and third elements in a trial would be approximately equal to the atomic mass of the second element in that triad.
  • For example, Lithium is the first metal, sodium is the middle, and potassium is the third element of the triad.
  • The appearance and reaction in the triad of the elements were similar to each other.
  • Hence the arrangement is called triads
