State the main function of beta cells of pancreas.

Beta cells of pancreas is responsible for the storage and release of insulin hormone in response to the change in blood glucose concentration. It constitute 80% of the cells of islets of Langerhans of pancreas. When blood sugar level increases, insulin is secreted by beta cells of pancreas to maintain the normal blood glucose level.
