Cerebrospinal fluid:

1. The brain and spinal cord are covered by a covering of three continuous sheets known as meninges.
2. The order of the layers of the meninges from outside to inside are dura matter, arachnoid and pia matter.
3. The gap between arachnoid and pia matter is filled with a fluid known as cerebrospinal fluid.
4. The main function of the cerebrospinal fluid is to provide insulation to the central nervous system and prevent it from mechanical shock.
