1. The rectum is the last part of the large intestine. The large intestine is a coil-like tube with one end connected to the small intestine and the other end connected to the anus.
2. The large intestine is a part of the alimentary canal which consists of three parts-cecum, the colon and the rectum.
3. Rectum is a small muscular region that can store the undigested food for a short period before passing it out through the anus.
4. The main function of the walls of the large intestine is to absorb water from the undigested food.
