Open in App
Solution

Seminal Vesicle:

  1. Seminal Vesicles are a pair of lobulated glands located between the posterior surface of the urinary bladder and the rectum
  2. The gland produces a secretion that serves as a medium for the transportation of sperm.
  3. They secrete the fluid that partly composes the semen.
  4. The semen is alkaline in nature and contains mainly citrate, ascorbic acid, acid phosphatase and fructose, and hormone-like prostaglandins.
  5. Fructose provides energy to the sperm for swimming.
  6. The prostaglandin stimulates contractions in the female reproductive system to help the meeting of sperm and ovum in the oviduct.
  7. The secretion nourishes and activates the sperm.
