Solution
The main postulates of the theory are:
The matter is made up of very small particles called atoms and molecules.
In all respects, the constituent particles of a kind of matter are identical.
They have inter particular or intermolecular space between them.
The particles of matter exist a force of attraction between them. This force of attraction is known as inter particular or intermolecular force of attraction.
Particles of matter are always in a state of random motion, therefore they possess kinetic energy. The kinetic energy increases with an increase in temperature and vice-versa.
All the constituent particles exert a force that attracts them together, and it is highest when particles are closely packed and is least when they have distance between them. Thus this force depends on distance and decreases with an increase in distance and vice versa.
