State the observation when:
(i) ethylene gas is bubbled through bromine water.
(ii) a piece of sodium is dropped into ethyl alcohol.
(iii) acetylene gas is burnt in air.
(iv) an acidified solution of potassium dichromate is added to ethyl alcohol.

(i) When ethylene gas is bubbled through bromine water, the latter's orange colour will disappear.

(ii) When a piece of sodium is dropped in ethyl alcohol, hydrogen gas will bubble out leaving behind a colourless solution of sodium ethoxide.

(iii) When acetylene gas is burnt in air, it will produce a luminous and smoky flame.

(iv) When an acidified solution of potassium dichromate is added to ethyl alcohol, ethanoic acid will be formed due to oxidation. The colour of solution change from orange to green.
