Question

State the observations at the anode and at the cathode during the electrolysis of:
Copper sulphate solution using copper electrodes.

Solution

Copper sulphate solution using copper electrodes.
Copper anode dissolves to form Cu(II) ions
$$ \displaystyle Cu \rightarrow Cu^{2+} +2e^-$$
At cathode, copper ions are reduced to copper metal which is deposited on cathode.
$$ \displaystyle  Cu^{2+} +2e^- \rightarrow  Cu$$
