Dear Student,
Since Capacitance is the ability of a material to store charge.
A capacitor works by storing energy electrostatically(in form of charges) in an electric field
Which means; When any capacitor is given some voltage, an electric field is generated between it causing positive charge to accumulate on one side and negative charge to accumulate on another side.
Factors on which Capacitance of a Parallel capacitor in Vacuum:
1. Directly proportional to Area of the two parallel plates(A)
2. Inversely proportional to the distance between the two plates(d)
3. K is the dielectric constant of the insulating material between the two plates; K=1 for Vacuum and Air
Regards.
