Type of bonding in calcium oxide :- Ionic bonding.

Type of bonding in calcium oxide :- Ionic bonding. In order to fulfil their respective octet configuration, Calcium loses two valence electrons to form Ca2+ cation and oxygen gains two electrons to form O2- anion and therefore these two species form ionic bond.
