In water H2O molecule, two O−H covalent bonds are present. Each O−H covalent bond is formed when O atom and H atom shares one electron each. O atom is sp3 hybridized. O atom has 6 valence electrons out of which 2 are involved in forming 2 O−H bonds. The remaining 4 electrons appear as 2 lone pairs of electrons. The electron pair geometry of water is tetrahedral and molecular geometry is bent.
