Question

State the type of motion performed by a drilling machine.

Open in App
Solution

  1. A drilling machine is also an example of multiple motions i.e., translational motion combined with rotatory motion.
  2. This is because when the drill bit of the drilling machine is making a slot, the drill bit is rotating at a very high speed.
  3. Also while making the slot, the drill bit is moving forward further into the slot, thereby performing a translational motion as well.
  4. Motion in which an object shows more than one type of motion is called multiple motions.

Hence, a drilling machine is an example of multiple motions.
