Question

State the universal law of gravitation. Write the mathematical expression of this law.

Open in App
Solution

Newton's universal law of gravitation states that when two body are separated by a distance r, then both attract each other with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses (m1 and m2) and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them (r). This force is termed as gravitational force.
Mathematically, gravitation force is given by F=Gm1m2r2
where G is gravitational constant.
