Newton's universal law of gravitation states that when two body are separated by a distance $r$, then both attract each other with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses ($m_1$ and $m_2$) and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them $\left(r\right)$. This force is termed as gravitational force.

Mathematically, gravitation force is given by $F=\frac{G{m}_1{m}_2}{r^2}$

where $G$ is gravitational constant.
