Solution
Adaptation:
Adaptation is when animals and plants modify or develop some characteristics which are better suited to the environment. These characters help them by increasing their chances of survival.
Mountain adaptation in trees:
The commonly found trees of mountains such as pines grow on the mountain slopes, due to these steep slopes most of the rainwater flows down the slope and there is very little water left for the growth of the trees.
The conservation of water is done by reducing the leaves into needle-like structures, with thick wax coats to reduce the loss of water by transpiration.
The trees are commonly cone-shaped with sloping branches. This structure of the trees helps easy sliding off snow and rainwater that may damage the branches and leaves.
