It is the quantity of matter contained in a body. It is the gravitational force with which the earth attracts the body.

It is constant for a body and it does not change with location of the body. Weight of the body changes with change in location of the body.

S.I. unit of mass is kilogram (kg). S.I. unit of weight is same as force i.e. Newton (N).
