Question

State three factors that determine the solubility of a solute.

Open in App
Solution

The three factors that determine the solubility of a solute are:

  • The size of the solute particles affects the solubility, the smaller the size of the solute particles greater the solubility and vice-versa.
  • On stirring the solution, the solubility of the solute in the solution increases.
  • When we increase the temperature, the inter-molecular space increases, and hence the solubility of solute decreases in the solution and vice-versa.
