In the purification of bauxite ore as a preliminary step in the production of $Al$, $\left[Al\right](OH{)}_4{]}^{-}$ can be converted to $Al(OH{)}_3$ by passing $C{O}_2$ through it.

Aqueous solution of $C{O}_2$ is acidic. Hence, $C{O}_2$ when passed into $\left[Al\right(OH{)}_4{]}^{-}$ solution makes it acidic hence, $Al(OH{)}_3$ is precipitated. $C{O}_2+2H_{2}O\to H_3{O}^{+}+HC{O}_3^{-}\left[Al\right(OH{)}_4{]}^{-}+H_3{O}^{+}\to Al(OH{)}_3\downarrow +2H_{2}O$
