Solution

The correct option is A True
When a freshly prepared saturated solution of iorn (II) Sulphate is added to nitrate solution and
than concentrated H2SO4 is added slowly from the side of the test tube, a brown ring is obtained
at the junction of two layers.
2NO3+4H2SO4+6Fe2+6Fe3++2NO+4SO24+4H2O
FeSO4+6H2O[Fe(H2O)6]SO4
[Fe(H2O)6]SO4+NO[Fe(H2O)5NO]SO4+H2O
Brown ring
Bromides and iodides interfere because of the liberated halogen. All of these anions can be removed
by adding an excess of nitrate-free Ag2SO4 and filtering the insoluble the insoluble silver salts.
