Question

State True or False.

Nylon has high elasticity and tensile strength.

Open in App
Solution

Fibers have very high tensile strength and good flexural strength as well, but they usually have terrible compressional strength. They also only have good tensile strength in the direction of the fibers.

Nylon has the highest elastic limit of the polymers and although it does not meet our min. elastic limit requirement, it has a high coefficient of restitution. Polymers with a comparable elastic limit probably behave similarly.

Hence, the given statement is true.
