Question

State true or false:
The worker done by a body on the application of a constant force is directly proportional to the distance travelled by the body. Express this in the form of an equation in two variables and draw the graph of the same by taking the constant force as 2 units. The work done when the distance travelled by the body is 0 units is 0.

Solution

The correct option is A True
Let the work done by constant force be y units and the distance travelled by the body be x units.
By the given condition yx
i.e., y=kx, where k is a constant.
As the constant force is given to be 2 units.
y=2x
Now when x=0, y=0
When x=1,y=2
When x=2,y=4
Plot the points (0,0),(1,2) and (2,4).
By joining these points, we get the required graph.
Clearly, when x=0,y=0
Therefore, when the distance travelled is 0 units, the work is done is also 0 units.
