State two causes of energy loss in a transformer.

(1) Resistance of windings : The windings in the transformer have some resistance and so, some energy is lost as heat energy produced according the Joule's heating effect.
(2) Eddy currents : Changing magnetic field produce current in the iron core which are known as eddy currents which cause heat loss.
