State two different roles of spleen in the human body.

The spleen is considered as secondary lymphoid tissue. It acts as a filter for blood as part of the immune system. Old RBCs are recycled in the spleen and platelets and WBCs are stored there. It helps in fighting certain kinds of bacteria that causes pneumonia and meningitis.
