1	It is a device which converts electrical energy (Voltage/Current) into mechanical energy.	It is a device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy (Voltage/Current).
2	It is the electricity in which voltage has constant polarity and current flows in same direction.	It is the electricity in which voltage switches polarity (+ve to -ve & vice versa) and current flows back and forth (Changes direction periodically).
3	Split ring commutators are used to produce current in the same direction.	Slip rings are used to produce current in alternating directions.

The similarity between d.c motor and a.c. generator is that they both are electrical machines which work based on the principle of Electromagnetic Induction.
