State two essential features of a geostationary satellite.

Solution

(1) A geostationary satellite should be always above the same position on earth from where it was projected i.e why it is said Geostationary satellite.
(2) To fulfill the above criteria the satellite should have its period of revolution equal to that of earth about its own axis i.e. 24 Hours and the satellite needs to be revolve from west to east.
