Solution

Failure of the League of Nations:
(i) All the great powers were not its members. The United State was not a member. In 1925, Germany joined the organization while Russia was allowed entry in 1934. Later, both Germany and Japan left the League. The League, therefore, lacked universal representation.
(ii) The rise of dictatorship in Italy and Germany lead to the weakening of the League of Nations and it failed in its basic object of maintaining peace in the world.
