Solution

Liberal democracy is commonly known as Western Democracy in which representative democracy operates under the principles of classical liberalism. It can be a constitutional monarchy like in Canada, Japan etc. or a republic like in India, UK.

The 2 features of a liberal democratic state are-

1. Universal Suffrage- consists the right to vote of all adult citizens without any discrimination on race, ethnicity, ownership or income. Free and fair Universal Suffrage construct the very nature basis of the democracy of self-correction as it gives the power to re-elect or to throw away the present government in the next elections to the citizens only. This ensures that the decision process is efficient and the leaders and parties are responsible and vigilant.

2. Constitution- most of the western democracies draw upon a constitution , either formally written or uncodified, to delineate the powers of government between various branches of the government. It ensures separation of powers between the branches as it specifically lays down the goals to be pursued by each bracha dn the actions to be taken for their attainment.
