Solution
The cerebrum is the most important portion of the brain. It is a spherical structure and is made up of two large, convoluted parts called cerebral hemispheres. Its major functions are:
1. The different sensations like touch, cold, hot, pain require association and interconnection with each other for their proper interpretation. If one can see an object, it can also be tasted or touched and this association is done by cerebrum.
2. The memory of events is recorded which can be both long term memory or short term memory.
The medulla oblongata is the posterior-most part of the brain that connects the brain with the spinal cord. It contains centres which control respiration, cardiovascular reflexes and gastric secretions.
