Wood charcoal :
1. Used as fuel as it burns at low temperatures
2. Important constituent of gun powder

Sugar charcoal :
1. To decolourise coloured solutions
2. Reducing agent to extract metals from oxides

Bone charcoal :
1. For manufacturing of phosphorus compounds.
2. To decolourise cane sugar.
