Question

State two ways by which saturated solution can be changed to unsaturated solution?

Open in App
Solution

Solution: Solutions are a homogeneous mixture of solute and solvent.

It is a homogeneous mixture of two or more two components.

For example, A solution of salt in water in which salt is solute and water is solvent.

Saturated solution: Those solutions in which no more solute can be dissolved at a given temperature are called a saturated solutions and

Changing saturated solution into unsaturated solution.

There are two ways through which saturated solution can be changed to the unsaturated solution.

  1. By Heating It
  2. By adding more solvent to it

By Heating It:

On heating a saturated solution it becomes unsaturated.

Because of the application of heat to a saturated solution, the intermolecular space between the particles increases due to an increase in the kinetic energy of the particles.

This allows more solutes to dissolve in the solution and makes the solution unsaturated.

By adding more solvent to it:

Adding more solvent into the solution will decrease the concentration of the solution due to dilution.

Conclusion:

So, two ways by which saturated solution can be changed to the unsaturated solution are by Heating It and by adding more solvent to it.
