State what happens to the loudness of sound in the following cases:
a) Density of the medium increases.
b) Distance between the source and the receiver increases.

a) The loudness of sound is directly proportional to the density of the medium through which it propagates. Greater the density of the medium, louder is the sound.
b) Lesser the distance between the source and the receiver, louder is the sound heard by the listener. Thus, closer the source of sound, louder is the sound heard.
