Solution

The correct option is A True
  1. When the solid state is heated the molecules in the solid state get thermal energy due to which molecule starts vibrating at their own positions.
  2. The particles gain a sufficient amount of energy to overcome the inter-particle force of attraction and get converted into liquid form.
  3. Hence, heat energy will increase the temperature, and thereby the solid will be converted into a liquid state.
  4. For example -
    1. When heat is supplied to the ice at 0°C, it starts converting into water at 0°C °C at constant temperature and constant pressure until the whole of the ice is converted into water.
  5. The phenomenon of conversion from solid to liquid is termed as latent heat of melting or fusion, where the phase changes from solid to a liquid state.

Hence, the given statement is True.
