Solution
The correct option is A True The opening of the stomata depends on the concentration of potassium ions that accumulate in the guard cells. These ions combine with malate ions that increases the osmotic concentration of potassium malate. This causes water to enter the guard cells that in turn increases the turgor pressure. Thus the stomata get opened.
During the night, the concentration of carbon dioxide increases in the substomatal cavity. Uptake of potassium ions is inhibited and thus stomatal openings get closed.
