Francis Davis (1880) and his son performed an experiment and found the growth promoting substance i.e., Auxin. He capped the tip of coleoptile and also cut the tip of coleoptile and found that it was not sensitive to light and cannot perceive light and hence no growth occurs. Thus it was concluded that there is some substance present in the tip of coleoptile without which it cannot grow and cannot perceive a stimulus, this substance was termed as auxin.
So, the correct statement is 'True'.
