Solution

The correct option is A True
As the electron goes far from the nucleus, the nuclear force of attraction on the electron decreases. As a result, the electron revolves around with lesser velocities. Due to decrease in velocity, kinetic energy ( 12mv2) decreases. Since potential energy is inversely proportional to the force of attraction, it increases with increase in distance. The increase in potential energy is more than the decrease in kinetic energy. Therefore, the total energy of the electron increases with increase in distance from the nucleus.
