An alloy is a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals or non-metals.
Alloys are made to improve the properties of constituent metals.
Properties of an alloy are different from those of its constituent metals, or metal and non-metal.
Example: Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon with some other metals. Some of the properties which are enhanced in steel are strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance.
