Question

State whether the sets R=w,x,y,z and S=a,e,i,o,u are equivalent sets or not.

Open in App
Solution

Two sets are said to be equivalent if they have same cardinal number , i.e., same number of elements in it.

Cardinal number for set R (number of elements in the set) is nR=4.

Cardinal number for set S (number of elements in the set) is nS=5.

Since, cardinal numbers are not same, i.e., nRnS.

Hence, they will not be equivalent sets or they are non-equivalent sets.
