  1. The SNS is a branch of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). It regulates involuntary activities of the body.
  2. The SNS works in an antagonistic manner to the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). The nerves of the SNS arise from the thoracic (chest) and lumbar (abdominal) areas of the spinal cord.
