It is important that for a sentence to make complete sense, its pronoun and antecedent should be in agreement on three terms: Person, Number and Gender. A Pronoun is a word or phrase used in place of a noun. An antecedent is the word or phrase to which a pronoun refers. In the above sentence, the person form of the pronoun and antecedent do not agree. See attached image to understand where they disagree. The antecedent in the sentence; 'a person' is in third person case whereas, the pronoun; 'you' is in second person case. One way to resolve this disagreement is to make the second person singular 'you', to a third person singular pronoun. Therefore, the sentence will read: If a person likes South Indian food, he or she should go to Chennai.
