Let 'p' be the density of the material of earth
mass = volume * density
M=43πR3p
Substituting in eq 1 we get
g=GR243πR3p=43πGRp - eq. 2
Now at depth 'd'
gd=43πG(Rd)p
or gd=g(1dR)
if d=R/2
then gd=g(1R2R)=g(112)=12g
Thus value of acceleration due to gravity at a depth of half of the radius of the earth.
