Question

State, which of the following pairs of sets are disjoint :

A={natural numbers less than 10} and B={ x:x is a multiple of 5}

Open in App
Solution

Step : Check whether the pair of sets are disjoint

Given:

A = {natural numbers less than 10}

= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}

And B = {x : x is a multiple of 5}

= {5, 10, 15, 20, ........}

5 is common in both the sets.

And we know that Sets having no element in common are called disjoint sets.

Hence, the given pair of sets are not disjoint sets.
