No, even though the energy sector of India is developing fast, it faces many problems. The following are some of the problems faced by the energy sector:
i. Financial weakness- Most of the State Electricity Boards (SEBs) are running into losses and debt-ridden.
ii. Increasing losses- The theft of electricity and power is increasing, which is aggravated by poor cost recovery. As a result, the energy sector is facing increasing transmission and distribution (T&D) losses.
iii. Inadequate supply- Although a large number of power plants are being set up in India, power supply still falls short of demand. This, in turn, affects production in the agriculture and industrial sectors.
