Zero distance covered and may have non zero displacement

Open in App
Solution

Distance is the length of the path followed by a body in its motion while the displacement is the shortest distance between initial and final positions. Zero distance means object has not moved at all. So, its initial and final positions are same. Therefore, its displacement is also zero.

Thus, it is not possible for an object to have zero distance covered and may have non-zero displacement.
