When sodium hydroxide is added to Copper chloride:

  • CuCl2(aq)Copperchloride+2NaOH(aq)SodiumhydroxideCu(OH)2(aq)Copperhydroxide+2NaCl(aq)Sodiumchloride
  • Bluish white precipitation of Cu(OH)2is formed which is insoluble in excess of sodium hydroxide.
